Lipomas: fatty lumps under the skin

A lipoma is a soft, movable lump of fat under the skin, almost always benign, that grows slowly. The first step is to confirm it is a lipoma, sometimes with an ultrasound. Small ones can be reduced in consultation with an injectable medical technique; large or unclear ones are referred to a surgeon.

How we approach it

  • Mesolipotherapy, to reduce small lipomas
  • Ultrasound and surgical referral when the lump is large or unclear

Frequently asked questions

How do I know it is a lipoma?

From the examination: it is soft, moves when touched and does not hurt. If it grows fast, is hard or hurts, it needs to be investigated before any treatment.

Does it leave a scar?

The injectable technique needs no incisions. Surgery, when needed, leaves a small scar the surgeon will explain.

What happens at the information visit?

It is a first visit with the doctor, at no cost, where we listen to you, examine the area and explain which options make sense in your case. There is no commitment to start any treatment.
