Expression lines and wrinkles

Expression lines are the wrinkles drawn by repeated movement: on the forehead when raising the eyebrows, between the brows when frowning and around the eyes when smiling. At first they show only in movement; over the years, the loss of collagen leaves them visible at rest too. Telling one kind of line from another guides the treatment, which is why we always start with a medical assessment.

Treatments we offer

Treatment of dynamic expression lines

Expression lines, or dynamic lines, appear with the repeated movement of the facial muscles: frowning, raising the eyebrows or smiling. Over the years they also show at rest. The medical treatment of these lines consists of micro-injections into the muscles involved, to relax their contraction temporarily.

Areas treated

The usual indications are the horizontal lines of the forehead, the vertical lines between the eyebrows and crow's feet. Other indications, such as teeth grinding or excessive underarm sweating, are assessed during the consultation.

How it is done

The doctor observes the muscles in motion and at rest to decide the injection points and the dose. Very fine needles are used and the session lasts about 20 minutes.

What to expect

The effect shows gradually over the following days and is reviewed after two weeks. As a guide, it lasts between 4 and 6 months, with variation between people. There may be small marks at the injection points or a mild headache for a few hours. The aim is to soften the lines while keeping facial expression, with doses adjusted to each case.

Who can be treated

Adults with expression lines, after a medical assessment. It is not done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in people with neuromuscular diseases. Like any medical procedure, it can carry risks and side effects, which the doctor explains before the informed consent is signed.
