Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)

Hyperhidrosis is more sweating than the body needs to regulate its temperature. It usually affects the underarms, hands or feet, often starts in youth and can affect clothing, work and social life. Odour does not come from sweat itself but from the bacteria that break it down, so reducing sweating also helps with odour. In consultation we rule out other causes and assess the medical treatment of underarm sweating.

How we approach it

  • Injectable medical treatment of underarm sweating
  • A check for other causes of sweating

Frequently asked questions

When is sweating considered excessive?

When it happens without heat or effort, often soaks clothing or gets in the way of daily life. If it also started suddenly or comes with other symptoms, a general medical check is advisable.

How long does the treatment effect last?

It is temporary and varies from person to person, so it is usually repeated over time. The doctor will explain what to expect at the assessment.

Does it also help with odour?

Odour appears when skin bacteria break down sweat, so less sweat usually means less odour. Hygiene and breathable clothing remain important.

What happens at the information visit?
