Acne scars and other scars
A scar is how the skin repairs a wound or deep inflammation. Acne scars are usually sunken and of different shapes; others, such as keloids, grow above the skin. Each type is treated with different techniques, almost always combined, over several sessions. The realistic aim is to improve texture so the scar shows less, and that is how we explain it at the assessment.
How we approach it
- Microneedling, for texture
- Fractional laser, for acne scars
- Subcision, to release sunken scars
- Hyaluronic acid, to fill specific scars
- Medical treatment of keloid scars

Frequently asked questions
Can a scar be erased?
A scar does not disappear completely. What can be worked on is its depth, texture and colour, so that it shows less. We will explain what is reasonable to expect in your case.
What is subcision?
It is a medical technique in which a fine needle releases the bands that pull the scar inwards. It is used for sunken acne scars and is often combined with other techniques.
Are some times of year better for treatment?
Yes. Some lasers are planned outside the sunniest months, depending on your skin type. The doctor will propose the schedule.
What happens at the information visit?
It is a first visit with the doctor, at no cost, where we listen to you, examine the area and explain which options make sense in your case. There is no commitment to start any treatment.

Where we assess it
