Acne

Acne is an inflammation of the skin's follicles involving excess sebum, clogged pores, a bacterium that lives on the skin and hormones. It is not only a teenage problem: many adults have it, especially along the jaw and chin. Treating it in time matters because inflammatory acne can leave scars. In consultation we assess the type of lesions and, where needed, combine the underlying medical treatment with in-clinic techniques.

Frequently asked questions

Is adult acne different from teenage acne?

It often is. In adults it appears more on the lower face and is more closely linked to hormones and stress. That is why the assessment asks about your habits, the skincare you use and your medical history.

What is photodynamic therapy for acne?

It is a technique that combines a photosensitising product applied to the skin with a specific light, with the aim of reducing inflammation and the activity of the oil glands. It is done over several sessions and the doctor decides whether it is indicated.

What about the marks acne has already left?

Active acne should be controlled first. The scars and marks left behind are treated afterwards, with different techniques; we explain them on the scars page.

What happens at the information visit?

It is a first visit with the doctor, at no cost, where we listen to you, examine the area and explain which options make sense in your case. There is no commitment to start any treatment.
