Blackheads, enlarged pores and milia

Blackheads are pores clogged with sebum and dead cells that darken on contact with air. Pores look larger when the skin produces a lot of oil or loses firmness around them. Milia are tiny, hard, white keratin cysts that do not come out by squeezing. The three have different causes, which is why a doctor should look at the skin before choosing how to treat it.

Frequently asked questions

Can pores be closed?

A pore does not open and close like a door. What can change is how enlarged it looks, by working on oil, cleansing and the firmness of the surrounding skin. That is why we talk about improving its appearance, not closing it.

Is it a good idea to squeeze blackheads at home?

We do not recommend it: squeezing with your fingers inflames the skin, can infect the pore and leave marks. An extraction done in consultation, on prepared skin, is cleaner.

How often is a facial cleansing advisable?

It depends on the skin type. Oily skin usually needs it every few weeks and dry skin less often. The doctor will advise you after seeing the skin.

What happens at the information visit?

It is a first visit with the doctor, at no cost, where we listen to you, examine the area and explain which options make sense in your case. There is no commitment to start any treatment.
